Many of Metis Design's clients have their own design and engineering departments. What they do not have is the resources or expertise to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In those cases, MDC becomes an extension of our clients' engineering team, offering services that they can not obtain in house. Our engineers work closely with the in-house group, acting as both sounding board for design options and a source for advice and solutions.

MDC can accept almost any type of CAD file for use with FEA. Often files come to us in SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer and can be worked in natively. Other 3D formats can be imported, and often automatic feature recognition is possible. Some of MDC's clients use only 2D CAD. For those cases, MDC's engineers create 3D models from paper blueprints or AutoCad drawings for use in the FEA software. Metis Design runs CosmosWorks, ANSYS and MSC.Nastran for Windows. Our range of resources and experience allows us to perform all common types of FEA, including static and time-dependent analyses, linear and non-linear geometry and materials, buckling, modal frequency, thermal and fatigue.
