Structural Plastic Design
One of Metis Design's niche areas is structural plastic design. Over the past few years, MDC has worked on over a two dozen structural plastic design and analysis projects, ranging from shipping pallets to transformer boxes to radomes. By utilizing 3D modeling in conjunction with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), MDC has optimized these designs to achieve aggressive loading requirements while optimizing the designs for weight and cost.
MDC's structural plastic design projects have been manufactured from a variety of materials, including unreinforced and reinforced thermoplastics, structural foam, sheet and bulk molding compound. Metis Design's engineers are experienced in designing for a range of manufacturing processes as well, such as compression molding, injection molding, rotational molding and thermoplastic flowforming.
